Sanderstead URC had its beginnings as Sanderstead Congregational Church in October 1931. In February 1932 the present site was acquired and In January 1933 the Church was formally established.
The laying of foundation stones took place in December of that year. whilst the first Sunday service in the new Church was held on 1 July 1934
With the formation of the (National) United Reformed Church by a union of the Presbyterian Church of England and the majority of churches in the Congregational Church in England and Wales the church at Sanderstead became Sanderstead United Reformed Church in October 1972
To-day Sanderstead URC is a welcoming and happy fellowship, with a regular congregation across a wide age range. We are a medium-sized church with a strong community spirit, with many of our church members doing voluntary/outreach work locally. We enjoy our worship in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and we look forward to welcoming regular and visiting worshippers alike.
As a family we are sadly aware that at times there may be members who are unwell or who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. For these people we offer prayers and support through our team of pastoral workers.
This care and attention is also exercised at all times in the life of the church through our “Health & Safety” and “Safeguarding” policies.
