The Abbeyfield Sanderstead Society
A registered charity founded by members of the Sanderstead United Reformed Church. in 1969.

Looking for suitable sheltered accommodation for yourself or for an older relative or friend
can be a daunting experience. The Abbeyfield
Sanderstead Society understands how difficult and upsetting this can be and recognizes
that most people would far rather stay in their own homes than move
at a time of life when it is hardest to cope.
This is why Abbeyfield has established a standard of care and support
that puts the needs or residents first and provides a home that is welcoming,
friendly and affordable.
Abbeyfield
is the largest single provider of very sheltered housing for older people in the
voluntary sector, managing over 900 houses throughout the UK, providing
accommodation for over 8500 older people and involving some 15000 local
volunteers. In an Abbeyfield house,
residents lead the kind of life they want, with privacy and caring support from
staff and volunteers. Residents can
remain independent and active, safe in the knowledge that they have the
companionship of like-minded people.
Our house provides very sheltered housing, where older people with low to medium dependence can continue their lifestyle, staying in contact with friends and family and community activities, but having the security of a more sheltered environment than they might have in their own home. If residents become frail, the Abbeyfield Society can help to find domiciliary care and other support services. The house contain personally furnished rooms, there are communal lounges and dining rooms, and two main meals are provided each day. There are guest rooms where friends can stay for visits.
