Sanderstead United Reformed Church

SUNDAY WORSHIP

Our Sunday worship is at the heart of our church life.  We come together to meet with God, to celebrate God’s goodness and love.  We pray for God’s guidance in our lives.

Our main services of worship are at 10.30am and 6.30pm each Sunday. Services are simple in style with a minimum of ritual. Holy Communion forms part of the service on the first Sunday morning, and the third Sunday evening of each month.

Our services are generally made up of hymns, prayers, readings from the Bible and a sermon. Members of the congregation help the minister who leads the worship and certain special services may focus on a theme, such as Remembrance, One World Week and Christian Aid

FAMILY WORSHIP

Children and Young People are an integral part of our church family and worship. They are not just the church of the future - they are the church of to-day. On Sunday mornings the children and young people join us for 20 minutes or so and then leave for their own departments which caters especially for them.

A family service is held on the third Sunday of most months. This service is also attended by the various uniformed organizations which are affiliated to the church.

CHURCH MUSIC

We are fortunate to have a very fine pipe organ and our organist/choir leader  plays this to good effect to greatly enhance our worship, He guides and instructs the choir in their preparation for leading Sunday morning singing and for special occasions such as Christmas and Harvest; other members of the congregation are encouraged to join in as available. Modern and traditional music is sung, including an anthem from time to time.

BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

Sanderstead United Reformed Church has an open door policy on baptisms and weddings. No one who comes to us for the Sacrament of Baptism will ever be turned away.
