 Sunday Afternoon Concerts

The Literary Society normally meets on alternate Wednesdays during the winter when new faces are always welcome.
Guest speakers deliver talks, often illustrated, on a variety of topics but regrettably the 2020/2021 season has been suspended. We hope that some degree of normality will return in time and that it will be possible to run the 2021/22 season. We will keep you informed, in the meantime, stay safe stay well,  and we look forward to being able to see you again in October 2021.

Charles Murdoch Hon Secretary, Sanderstead Literary Society

(Enquiries please to the Membership Secretary )

Founded in 1980, we are based in Sanderstead and we produce two full-scale productions a year. The Players also enjoy play readings and social events. We are always looking for new members to act, direct or take on one of the many backstage roles.  News of our next production (The Deep Blue Sea) can be viewed here or in the Players’ website, the link below.
 Parlour Players

We enjoy partaking in old favourites and learning many new dances. As well as our regular Tuesday evening dancing we enjoy Christmas  and Burn’s Nicht celebrations and usually a summer lunch.  Whether you come on your own or with a partner you will be made equally welcome.

The club, founded in 1937, continues to offer and encourage a sporting activity to church members and friends of the church. Club play is held on Saturday and Tuesday afternoons throughout the year, weather permitting, and on Wednesday evenings during the summer. Besides this we also enjoy some social activities such as a skittle evening  and quiz night. Membership is open to all. The club’s facilities include the church tennis pavilion and changing rooms.

The Guild meets every other Tuesday afternoon for a varied programme of talks (some illustrated), demonstrations and so on. New friends can be made over tea and biscuits!

The Working Circle meets on alternate Tuesday afternoons. The circle aims to help out with the charity work of the church and other organisations both at home and abroad. Meetings are held to produce articles and garments for sale to raise funds to supply these needs.
