Sanderstead URC had its beginnings as Sanderstead Congregational Church in October 1931. In February 1932 the present site was acquired and In January 1933 the Church was formally established.   The laying of foundation stones took place in December of that year. whilst the first Sunday service in the new Church was held on 1 July 1934

With the formation of the (National) United Reformed Church by a union of the Presbyterian Church of England and the majority of churches in the Congregational Church in England and Wales  the church at  Sanderstead became Sanderstead United Reformed Church in October 1972
